Happy Web Designing

I’ve finished another redesign of all my websites and gotten them merged so that there is just one front door to everything.  Still have a lot of stuff to get back.  This redesign started from scratch except for this blog.  The biggest take down was the photo albums.  I’ve given up on Gallery.  Just too slow and cumbersome in spite of all the great features it offered.

Nevada Caucuses

The Nevada Caucuses took place Saturday and Liz and I attended our precinct Democratic caucus at the local school.  We had 117 show up.  Only 3 candidates received support and (unfortunately) Edwards only had 15 supporters.  The viability cut off was 18 and we were unable to convince anyone to join us so we had to redistribute ourselves. Obama managed to come out with 1 more delegate than Clinton in our precinct.  I still prefer Edwards and hope he can manages to do better in the remaining primaries.

New software

I’m really loving my new MAC!  After having used Windows for so many years and dealt with the frustration of the speed (or lack of speed!!) of doing anything on a PC the speed, simplicity, and stability of MAC is like a breath of fresh air.  However, I have had to give up some of my favorite software including my favorite editor (1st page by Evrsoft.)  BUT… I have now found ShutterBug by Xtralean and with a minor adjustment to my way of approaching things I’m beginning to find it ALMOST as good as 1st Page.

Procrastination

It is not the worst of sins, but I will confess, it is one to which I am highly susceptible.  Were it not so I would be posting to this blog on a regular bases and keeping the Gallery up to date.So I have taken the time and worked all day on the Gallery and can now say that all the photos and vids that had disappeared when I upgraded the software a few weeks ago have now been restored.Check it out.  There are photos there from places most tourist to Vegas never see or even know about.

Democrats Win

We just got back a week ago from a visit to Toronto, We were there during Thanksgiving and attended Thanksgiving dinner with the Democrats Abroad chapter in Toronto.Dinner was held at the George Brown College Ontario Hostelry Institute School of Hospitality. The students at the institute did all the work and provided a traditional Thanksgiving meal and were given a resounding round of applause for there work.In case your wondering how two visitors from Las Vegas got invited to attend this event, it was the result of the very political principle of “It’s not what you know but who you know that counts.”That is, the wife and

Election 2006

Have you seen the adds being put on by AARP? You know, the ones that say “Don’t Vote”?  Well not voting isn’t the thing to do, but that’s not what they’re telling us to do anyway.  What they’re say is “Don’t vote until you know where the candidates stand on the issues.”Well, I did that, I found out where the candidates stand on the issues and as a result I decided I wasn’t going to vote for any of them.Fortunately, here in Nevada for all the state wide and Congressional races we have the choice on the ballet to vote

Mud Fighting

It’s not always easy to tell from what the Gleaner writes where he stands, but it is clear from this post that he doesn’t think very highly of Mr Gibson.  Personaly I’m not very happy to see Democrats slinging mud at each other, The Republicans will scoop up the same mud and use it in November no mater which one of them gets the nomination.

Economics?

GW seems to think that an increase in corporate profits (and thus the compensation of all his CEO friends) compensates for the huge deficits his administration has been running.   Well that just ain’t so!The whole bases of the GDP is meaningless.  The true measure of the economic condition of the nation is the standard of living of the mass of the people.  There is no measure that gives us that information.  The only thing that comes close is the income gap between the top 5% and the rest of the population, and that gap has continued to grow and

Lieberman’s Disappointment

Actually it’s not his disappointment, it is that of the Democratic Party.  His decision today to not support his primary opponent should he win confirms what I have suspected for some time about “good-old Joe.”  He’s not really a Democrat at all, he’s just “Joe” and all that’s important to him is himself.  I hate saying that about Senator Lieberman, but his positions on so many issues recently make him look more and more like a Republican.
